COLOUR Making and using dyes and pigments : François Delamare
I bought this book myself online due to its anthropological perspective on colours. The pictures inside and outside look really nice. But when I received it, I was surprised that the book is not very large (in the format), because it contains so much knowledge, facts and history.
It's actually one of my best books on colour. It traces the history and origins of colours all the way from ancient times to the present. Goes on about the first few colours that existed: red ocher, yellow ocher, white chalk and black charcoal, the creation of blue - and how green was really hard to produce, even though it is everywhere in nature. And a lot of other things, that I did not know about before reading it. I often find it for another read.
I think, this is a really great book for the price.
